Completion and Construction of Danehaye Mehr 1 School

Ternavli-Bala village, Golestan province, Iran

Project Overview

Initially we documented the school's(kiosk) poor condition so we would know how to tackle the renovations. We secured funding through philanthropic networks and we facilitated collaboration among the villagers, building a sense of unity and common purpose.

Once the villagers were united in the vision of the project we worked with Dane Haye Mehr to coordinate the various project elements with the local community. Impressively, the project was completed in 87 days due to this coordination. In the end, all of the residents of the village participated in the construction of the school in one way or another.

Our Focus

Initially, in the village Ternavli-Bala village, Golestan province,  we served 21 students 6-12 years of age during the first year of our school's operation. Moving forward, our long term goal is to give all the children in the village access to safe education through elementary school, thereby preventing widespread illiteracy. Ultimately, this project will benefit all 270 residents of the village.

The children of the village had been studying in a small and unsafe kiosk type structure. The Maraveh Tappeh County Directors Charity began building the school due to the unacceptable learning conditions. However, construction halted in 2019 due to severe inflation and material cost increases, leaving the project unfinished. There was a strong desire from the village to finish the project. Dane Haye Mehr saw the community's passion to create a new school for their children and was inspired to begin a collaboration. This collaboration also included support from our first generous donor, which facilitated the tangible momentum toward the community’s goals. With this inspiration and collaboration,  we re-started the school construction project in 2021 and the story began to unfold. The construction of the  school  was completed in less than 9 months, quite an impressive achievement.

Partners

Dane haye Mehr collaborated with The Maraveh Tappeh County Directors Charity, Philanthropist Babak Hamzehloo, The Golestan Province School Renovation Organization which provided the equipment of the school. In addition to the above, the local village and youth participated in all facets of the construction process.

Students from the local village assisted in all stages of construction. Women prepared meals for the workers. Local skilled laborers volunteered their time for tasks such as plumbing, electricity, and other construction tasks.

Through this partnership, between Village Rise and Dane Haye Mehr, not only did a new school get created but the project revitalized the community's deep connections and love for each other, generating a sense of hope for the future. This project inspired everyone involved and left the community with a strong sense of ownership.

Project Overview

Danehaye Mehr documented the school's condition, secured funding, and signed an agreement to cover 40% of the construction costs. Despite facing delays, they mobilized the local community, contributed an additional 10%, and lobbied for expedited completion. The school finally opened in November 2024, after four years of dedicated effort. Danehaye Mehr’s main role was to coordinate and push the project forward.

Our Focus

The second school project, located in Gusheh-Shu village, Golestan province, was actually  initiated prior to the Covid pandemic, but was delayed 3 years. Finally in November 2024 the school was launched. Initially  96 students aged 13-16 have been served. Long-term, this project will benefit over 2,000 residents from the three villages of Ghosheh Soo, Badianli, and Sojag, by providing access to quality education and ultimately reducing dropout rates.

For over 40 years, students in Ghosheh Soo, endured learning in a deteriorating and unsafe building, leading to significant dropout rates, especially among girls after elementary school. This contributed to social issues like child marriage and depression. The new school provides a safe and conducive learning environment, ensuring students can continue their education.

Partners

Danehaye Mehr collaborated with The Golestan Province School Renovation and Equipment Organization, Gohar Saghf Maraveh Tappeh Company, various organizations including the Road Administration and the Village Council, and the local community.

Students assisted in construction, women prepared meals for workers, and youth volunteered labor. Approximately 130 people from the three neighboring villages directly participated in the project.

This project not only provided a new school but also tackled critical social issues by reducing dropout rates and ensuring access to quality education. The successful completion, despite significant delays, highlights the power of community mobilization and collaborative partnerships. This project represents a beacon of hope, empowering the youth of these villages with the tools they need for a brighter future.

Project Overview

Danehaye Mehr was responsible for preparing the sub-base and base for the artificial turf. With the village council's machinery and the local youth's labor, this was completed in under a month. Danehaye Mehr’s main role was project planning, utilizing the services of different organizations, and administrative oversight of the project to ensure the project was completed to the highest standard. The pitch is now used extensively, even at night, thanks to the provided lighting.

Our Focus

The Qusheh-Sou Football Pitch services over 1,000 teenagers and young adults from 15 villages within a 15-kilometer radius.  Overall a total of 5,000 people directly benefit from this project. The pitch is also a hub for inter-village competitions, festivals, and exhibitions, fostering community engagement.

Despite the region's 32,000 residents across 50 villages, there were no open-air sports facilities. This lack of recreational space contributed to social issues like addiction, as young people lacked positive outlets for their energy. The community needed a space to come together and promote healthy activities.

Partners

Danehaye Mehr collaborated with The Alavi Foundation, which provided the artificial turf and light poles; the Village Council, which handled the concrete work; and the County Sports Department, which installed the perimeter fence.

Local children and teenagers, skilled concrete workers, and village youth were instrumental in the construction. Approximately 70 young people were directly involved in earthworks, concrete pouring, and turf installation. The enthusiasm and volunteer efforts of the local youth were remarkable.

This project transformed the community by providing a vital recreational space, promoting youth engagement, and combating social issues. The collaborative effort of multiple organizations and the enthusiastic participation of the local youth highlight the project's success. The positive impact has inspired plans for similar football pitches in other villages, creating a lasting legacy of health and community spirit.

Project Overview

Danehaye Mehr, in collaboration with its partners, purchased over 400 books and equipped three study halls in Hazrat Khadijeh Girls' School, Hosseini Girls' School, and Rasoul Akram Boys' School. These efforts provided essential resources and study spaces, directly addressing the students' needs. This project provided a study space for over 700 students, most of whom were girls aged 16–18.

Our Focus

The Library and Study Hall Construction project has served over 700 rural students aged 16-18 attending boarding high schools. Over 400 girls directly benefit. These students, living in dormitories during the week, are provided with essential resources and a conducive study environment to improve their educational outcomes and university entrance opportunities.

Educational inequality in Iran's university entrance exam (Konkur) is a significant challenge. Many students lack access to expensive but vital educational resources and quiet study spaces. The study halls address this by providing 24/7 access to books and a focused environment, leveling the playing field for these students.

Partners

Danehaye Mehr collaborated with the students' parents, the Nomadic Affairs Department, Kheili Sabz Publications, and Gaj Publications. Approximately 30 students volunteered during school holidays to help set up and equip the study halls and manage the books and facilities. School headmasters and teachers also played crucial roles, with teachers utilizing the experiences and opinions of current students and successful alumni to select the books.

This project significantly reduced educational inequality by providing vital resources and study spaces to rural boarding school students. The collaborative effort of multiple partners and the active involvement of students, teachers, and headmasters ensured the project's success. By empowering these students, particularly girls, with the tools they need to succeed, this project fosters hope and creates a pathway to higher education.
